Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc


DVD is a high capacity multimedia data storage medium that can store 4.7 billion bytes per side (4.3 gigabytes). A double sided dual layer DVD has a capacity of approximately 17 billion bytes (15.9 gigabytes). That is about 2 hours of video per layer. DVD video storage provides resolution that is almost twice the resolution of standard VHS videotape.
